Greetings and report of the General Director of HHLA CTO, Anastas Kokkin:

Dear Mr. President,

Dear colleagues and guests!

We are honored and glad to welcome you at Container Terminal Odessa, which is the largest and most modern container terminal in Ukraine and has been the constant leader of Ukrainian container market for many years.

For eighteen years of successful work on Ukrainian market the parent company of our terminal – HHLA AG, the port of Hamburg, Germany, has invested more than 150 million EUR in the construction and development of this terminal and currently continues to invest at least 20 million EUR in order to expand its capacities. Therefore, for the benefit of Ukrainian economy, due to the powerful foreign investments, this entire territory was built, and this modern handling equipment was bought and is operated, which you can see with your own eyes.

Over the past ten years, “Container Terminal Odessa” has paid taxes and dues to the budget of Ukraine in total amount of more than 1.5 billion UAH.

As a subsidiary of a leading European transport holding, in its activity, “Container Terminal Odessa” strictly adheres to the principles of compliance, transparency of business conduct, and observance of high environmental and social standards. We create prestigious working places for Ukrainians on a stable basis.

The development project of the container terminal at Quarantine Mole of Odessa port aims to reach the terminal capacity of 1.2 million containers per year for servicing international cargo traffic and is very important for functioning and development of Ukrainian maritime and transport sector. It is also one of the preconditions for the international trade development by Ukraine.

This project is being implemented by "Container Terminal Odessa" in cooperation with our partners – the country of Ukraine represented by the Administration of Sea Ports of Ukraine, which is responsible for financing and construction of hydraulic structures, namely the quay wall and the protective breakwater.

We really count on the new government and their support of the foreign investors and hope for the rapid resolution of the problem issue on the construction of the protective breakwater, as well as for a significant improvement of the investment climate in Ukraine and the overcoming of bureaucratic barriers.

From our side, we assure you of our intentions and efforts to continue investing in Ukrainian economy and make an important contribution to the development of the maritime and transport sector of Ukraine on its way to the European Union.

We sincerely wish you good luck and success!

Thank you very much for your attention!
