Subsidiary company "Container Terminal Odessa" of the German HHLA International GmbH ("CTO"), which handled the first vessel of the new weekly feeder service of the COSCO Shipping Lines in early November, will increase the handling volumes due to the introduction of vessels with larger capacity to the line by COSCO Shipping Lines.

According to the press service of the SC with reference to the Executive Commercial Director of SC CTO, Mr. Igor Yarovenko, initially the service was served by two ships, Asiatic Island and AS Laetitia with calls to the ports of Alexandria - Mersin - Novorossiysk - Odessa - Piraeus - Alexandria. After the successful launch of the service, COSCO Shipping Lines has renewed its fleet to more capacious container ships since December this year, in particular, the new two ships Nordviolet and Michigan Trader have been put on the service.

As reported, Container Terminal Odessa began servicing the line services of three international shipping companiesin May this year. It was about regular services of Hapag Lloyd, Yang Ming Line and Maerskshipping lines.

Since 2010, the company is building a new container terminal in cooperation with the ASPU. The project of the construction of the Quarantine mole terminal, which provides for the expansion of the through capacity for 600 000 TEU annually is one of the largest infrastructure projects in the maritime transport industry of Ukraine. The total investment exceeds UAH 5 billion. Construction started in April 2010. In 2017, about 40% of all container flows were handled by SC CTO at the new berths of the Quarantine Mole.
